Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated People's Artist of the RSFSR Vasily Livanov on his 90th birthday, noting that he has created a unique gallery of remarkable acting works that are considered the standard of excellence.

"Dear Vasily Borisovich! Please accept my warm congratulations on your 90th birthday. You have devoted yourself to the service of art, and over the years of inspired work you have created a unique gallery of wonderful acting works, which are rightfully considered the standard of excellence, a genuine asset of Russian culture," the telegram says, published on the Kremlin's website.

The President also noted that Livanov's creative career and dedication to his chosen cause arouse sincere and deep respect. In addition, the Russian leader wished Livanov good health, good spirits and well-being.

On July 11, Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, presented Alice Freundlich, People's Artist of the USSR, with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, First Class. According to the governor, it is an honor for him to fulfill Putin's instructions and present the actress with a state award of this level. Beglov also wished Freundlich good luck and new creative successes on stage.
