The seventh stage of the Silk Road International Rally Marathon has ended in Mongolia. The crews overcame hundreds of kilometers of off—road conditions in the marathon stage - without the accompaniment of technicians. Izvestia reported on how the stage went on Saturday, July 19.

According to Izvestia correspondent Igor Kaporikov, the track is becoming more and more difficult and unpredictable. The crew of the URAL MOTORSPORT team with the number 308 almost dropped out of the race, trying to shorten the route. The car was seriously damaged, but the riders managed to reach the finish line and maintain a good position.

"When we cut off, there was suddenly a bump, and we were walking at maximum speed. We flew very well on this hillock, high and far. And we were met on landing by another hillock, thereby we tore off one shock absorber, the jet thrust," said Alexander Shmelev, the navigator of the URAL MOTORSPORT team.

The special attention of the audience was attracted by the cargo crews — the "blue armada" of KAMAZ and the Belarusian "red bison". Tourists from Australia were impressed as they watched cars crossing the steppes at top speed.

"We must try to save the car so as not to cause any damage. The next day, we will go to a special stage with a fully prepared car," said Dmitry Nikitin, navigator of the KAMAZ—master team.

There were accidents among the off—road vehicles - the pilot Evgeny Frezorger turned over just 50 m before the finish line. Category leader Ivan Lee said that his mascots are two pink hares, which he takes to every race.

"I'll be absolutely honest: This is a midlife crisis sports coupe. Double sports compartment. In fact, yes, it's not a car, it's a way of life," Dmitry Gravsky, a participant in the Grand Tour From Baikal to Altai, added.

On July 16, it was reported that the Silk Road International rally marathon had reached Mongolia. The route of the special stage with a length of more than 200 km consists of a tangle of turns, dry riverbeds and rolling steppe between hills, so every maneuver must be verified.
