A criminal gang of eight family members, led by a 65-year-old grandmother, was sentenced to prison for drug distribution in the UK. This was announced on July 18 by the press service of the London police.

"A family organized criminal group, led by a 65-year—old grandmother, was convicted of drug trafficking in London and the United Kingdom after a large-scale investigation," the material says.

The gang, led by 65-year-old Deborah Mason, was sentenced to a total of 106 years and six months in prison. Between April and November 2023, the group collected parcels of imported cocaine and transported them throughout the UK. Over the past seven months, more than 1 ton of cocaine has been delivered by family members.

It is estimated that each of the eight members of the group earned more than 1 thousand pounds (more than 100 thousand rubles) per day. It is clarified that Mason used her income to buy jewelry for her cat and luxurious gardening supplies.

On July 17, Venezuelan security officers detained a submarine with drugs weighing more than 3 tons. It is noted that in the first half of this year, the country's authorities have already seized 31 tons of prohibited substances.
