The United Nations General Assembly (UN) has approved resolutions on reforms proposed by Russia as part of the UN-80 reform initiative (UN80). This was announced on July 18 in the press service of the organization.

"On Friday, the UN General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution on the initiative of the UN-80 Secretary General aimed at strengthening and optimizing the United Nations system," the statement said.

It is specified that the document is aimed at increasing efficiency and exploring the possibilities of structural reforms in the UN system. He calls for strengthening the organization's ability to meet global challenges despite external challenges such as budget cuts and political differences.

During the discussion, the delegations of the States supported the reform, but in choosing the time for the adoption of the resolution. Denmark called the process premature and unreasonably hasty, while Australia agreed, warning that a hasty decision could limit the scope of reform proposals.

Despite this, Russia has rejected claims that the project was prepared in a hurry. The Russian delegation stated that it had conducted several rounds of consultations and had taken into account the "red lines" pointed out by foreign delegations.

Mike Waltz, the candidate for the post of permanent representative of the United States, promised on July 15 to make the UN "great again." According to him, there should be one place in the world where all countries can speak.
