- The United States has provided evidence of Russia's non-interference in the 2016 elections
On the eve of the 2016 elections, the office of former US President Barack Obama fabricated and "politicized" intelligence information about Russia's alleged interference in the presidential election. This was announced on July 18 by the Director of National Intelligence of the United States Tulsi Gabbard.
"Americans will finally learn the truth about how in 2016 intelligence was politicized and turned into a weapon by the most powerful people in the Obama administration to lay the foundation for what was essentially a multi—year coup against President [Donald] Trump," she wrote on her account on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In a series of reposts made by Gabbard, excerpts from Obama's briefing on December 8, 2016 are given. So, according to the released documents and the comments attached to them, the initial conclusions of the intelligence operations stated that Russia not only "did not try to influence the 2016 presidential election" in favor of Trump, but also had "neither the intention nor the ability to hack." However, a few weeks after Trump's victory, these data were changed.
"In just one day, the presidential daily briefing on December 8, reflecting a long—standing assessment, turned into a completely opposite version," says one of the comments, which she shared on her page.
The Breitbart news portal reported on July 6 that the former head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States, John Brennan, could be charged with perjury in the case of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections. It was clarified that this could have happened after the current director of the CIA, John Ratcliffe, published documents on the forgery of agency materials on Russia.
