American leader Donald Trump refused to transfer to Kiev the air defense systems that are in American stocks, and demanded the supply of weapons to Ukraine from Germany. This was reported on July 18 by the German newspaper Bild, citing sources.

"Trump said that he would supply weapons to Ukraine, and the Europeans would only have to pay for them. Now it has become clear that Germany will have to not only pay, but also supply it itself, <...> since Trump refuses to give up his own weapons," the publication says.

Now Europe will also need to purchase new weapons to "fill the gaps in stocks," only from the United States. According to the newspaper, there is already a shortage of air defense systems in Germany.

Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin Chamber of Deputies from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, reported on July 16 that the majority of German residents oppose spending on military assistance to Ukraine, as Germany spends billions of euros on armaments for Kiev, rather than solving internal problems.
