Narcologist warned about the dangers of smoking vapes in the heat
Electronic gadgets for smoking can be harmful to health, and hot weather makes them even more dangerous. Vitaly Holdin, a psychiatrist and narcologist, chief freelance specialist at the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, said on Friday, July 18, that the heat increases the negative impact of vapes due to the fact that evaporation in them occurs faster than usual.
"At high temperatures, liquids in electronic smoking gadgets evaporate faster and thus release more toxic substances. And those, in turn, irritate the respiratory tract and can cause various diseases," the expert said in an interview with Radio 1.
In addition, in the heat, a person loses a lot of fluid, blood clots, and smoking gadgets aggravate this condition.
"The fact is that various vapes and electronic cigarettes also thicken blood, especially those that contain nicotine. In addition, nicotine narrows blood vessels, which can lead to increased blood pressure and increased stress on the cardiovascular system," explained Holdin.
He clarified that dehydration is indicated by dry mouth, headache or dizziness.
Ruslan Isaev, a psychiatrist, narcologist, and president of the Independent Narcological Guild, said on June 26 that when a teenager smokes vape, he harms his health: the normal development of the brain is disrupted.
A day earlier, on June 25, Alexey Kurinny, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, in an interview with the National Assembly, called for a legislative ban on electronic cigarettes in Russia.
On June 23, "Moscow 24" reported that Russia could completely ban the sale of vapes and electronic cigarettes — the corresponding package of bills has been submitted to the State Duma.
On June 20, Holdin said that electronic smoking gadgets contain a little-known sweetener several thousand times sweeter than sugar, which is not indicated in the composition, the Moscow City News agency reports.
