A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region received 11 years in prison for treason
A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region, recruited by the special services of Ukraine, was sentenced to 11 years in a penal colony in a case of treason. This was announced on July 18 by the press service of the Federal Security Service for the region.
It is noted that the criminal was the administrator of a large Telegram channel, in which he posted publications calling for joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). In 2022, Nizhny Novgorod agreed to cooperate with the special services of Ukraine.
According to the FSB, he was tasked with collecting information on the movement of equipment and personnel of the Russian armed forces, as well as law enforcement officers. However, in 2023, the attacker was arrested and imprisoned.
The court sentenced the man to imprisonment for a period of 11 years to serve his sentence in a general regime colony, as well as restriction of liberty for a period of one year, a ban on the administration of Internet resources for a period of three years, as well as a fine of 500 thousand rubles.
It is specified that the verdict of the court has entered into legal force.
Earlier that day, the FSB detained an agent of the Ukrainian special services in Crimea who was transmitting information about air defense. According to the agency, a criminal case was opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Treason").
