The new anti—Russian sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) are devastating for the Europeans themselves, while over the past 20 years the growth rate of the Russian economy has exceeded six times that of Germany and seven times that of France. This was announced on Friday, July 18, by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for economic cooperation with foreign countries.

"RDIF will continue to invest in promising Russian companies and promote them in foreign markets," Dmitriev added in his Telegram channel.

He recalled that a month ago, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, called for increased restrictions against the RDIF due to the fact that it promotes the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, promotes dialogue between Russia and the United States, and invests in the growth of the Russian economy.

The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund also noted that the European Union is destroying its own economy with its measures and blocking European companies from accessing the Russian market.

"The RDIF calls for dialogue instead of unwinding the sanctions spiral, which already has almost 30,000 sanctions against Russia, but is unable to impose its will in opposition to the national interests of our country," Dmitriev added.

Earlier in the day, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the permanent representatives of the EU countries had agreed on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions will affect the operation of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The EU countries also agreed to lower the ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia has acquired immunity to the sanctions that the EU is actively imposing.
