Zelensky asked Macron for anti-aircraft missiles and money for drones
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has asked his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to submit missiles for the SAMP/T air defense system and finance the production of interceptor drones. He wrote about this on July 18 in his Telegram channel.
"We discussed in detail the strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense, in particular, the supply of missiles for SAMP/T systems and the financing of interceptor drones," the Ukrainian president wrote.
As noted by "Gazeta.Ru", Zelensky said that France had agreed to accept additional Ukrainian pilots for training. They will be trained to use French Mirage fighters.
The Politico newspaper reported on July 15 that Paris was not going to participate in an initiative related to the purchase of US weapons for Kiev, amid an effort to develop its own weapons production. It was noted that Macron has been calling on European citizens to develop their own defense industry through the purchase of weapons from local manufacturers for a long time.
