- In Germany, they pointed out the harm of EU sanctions to relations between Moscow and Berlin
The 18th package of sanctions against Russia, which was agreed upon by the European Union (EU), will harm not the Russian Federation, but primarily Germany and relations between Moscow and Berlin. German economist Eike Hammer told Izvestia about this on July 18.
"Thus, the package of sanctions is mainly directed against Germany and its economy, and especially against relations between Germans and Russians," Hammer said.
According to him, German citizens should understand that bureaucrats and politicians in Berlin are not acting in their interests, but against them.
"They need to be on their guard and tell the politicians that they disagree with what they are doing," Hammer added.
Earlier in the day, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the permanent representatives of the EU countries had agreed on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions will affect the operation of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The EU countries also agreed to lower the ceiling on Russian oil prices.
In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia has acquired immunity to the sanctions that the EU is actively imposing.
