A criminal case was opened after a bear attacked a tourist in Kamchatka. This was reported on July 18 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.

"The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kamchatka Territory has opened a criminal case against unidentified entrepreneurs for providing paid services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers (Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the agency's Telegram channel says.

According to preliminary data, the travel company left one of the tents of the camp without guards and means of defense against predators on the night of July 17-18. As a result, a 43-year-old resident of Saratov suffered from a bear attack. She suffered injuries in the form of multiple bite wounds and a scalped wound in the occipital region.

It is specified that the woman was taken to the regional hospital and provided with medical assistance.

The bear attack was announced on the same day by the Regional Minister of Emergency Situations, Sergei Lebedev. According to him, the woman underwent surgery, now she is in intensive care. He stressed that the route of the tourist group, which included Saratovchanka, was not registered with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
