"For elementary school students, adaptation is easier: children get used to new conditions faster and find friends. But a lot depends on personality traits: anxious or shy children may experience a harder transition than confident teenagers. At an older age, the situation is complicated by the fact that it is during this period that it is especially important to be "one's own" among peers and to feel the support of friends," the expert said.

She stressed that parents should be the main source of support for the child. Their calmness will help them cope with their worries. It is important to discuss the changes in advance, listen to the emotions of the minor and acknowledge his feelings before talking about the advantages of the new school.

In addition, according to the expert, it is useful to introduce the child to the new school in advance so that he feels more comfortable.

"It is important for parents to be attentive in the first months after the transition. Isolation, apathy, aggression, or a sharp decline in interest in learning signal that a child is experiencing serious difficulties. In this case, it makes sense to consult a specialist," concluded Boeva.
