More than 140 people were affected by ticks in the Pskov region during the week. This is reported by the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.
"From July 10 to July 16, 141 people, including 39 children, applied to medical organizations in the Pskov region for tick sucking. Since the beginning of the season, 2,369 people have been affected by ticks, including 615 children," the report says.
According to the Pskov news feed, the most people were injured in Velikiye Luki and Pskov — 344 and 717 cases, respectively. At the same time, according to Rospotrebnadzor, the number of victims this year is 14.9% less than the average annual values for 2014-2024. So, in 2024, over the same period, 1,865 people applied to hospitals, including 511 children.
Since the beginning of 2025, two cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis have been registered in the Pskov region — an adult and a child have fallen ill. Two more adults have contracted ixodic borreliosis (Lyme disease).
This summer, cases of anaplasmosis infection (a bacterial infection spread by ticks) were recorded in the central part of Russia. On July 4, internist Denis Prokofiev listed the main symptoms of this disease and gave advice on first aid for insect bites.
