The information that North Korea allegedly closed the Wonsan resort to Russian citizens after the visit of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is fake. This was announced on July 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The American media affiliated with the US special services have planted misinformation that North Korea allegedly closed the Wonsan resort to Russians after Lavrov's visit," she told TASS.

Zakharova also called it a "classic lie" caused by the anger of representatives of the US military and political sphere, who saw the failure of their strategy of pressure on the DPRK.

On July 11, Lavrov arrived in North Korea on an official visit to participate in a round of strategic dialogue.

During a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on July 12, the minister spoke about the results of talks with his Korean counterpart Choi Song-hee in Wonsan. The Russian Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude to the DPRK leader for the opportunity to meet and noted that this encourages the development of the agreements reached on strategic partnership.
