The introduction of new tariffs by US President Donald Trump in the form of 100% duties against Russia will provoke a sharp increase in oil prices around the world. CNN reported this on July 17, citing sources.

"Global oil prices could rise sharply if Russia suddenly stops exporting more than 7 million barrels of oil per day," the article says.

According to the newspaper, such an initiative will negatively affect the two largest markets in Asia, as well as India and China, which will look for other sources of oil to avoid high duties from Washington.

It is noted that using such restrictions to prevent countries from buying Russian oil would be a "crude tool" of the United States. The TV channel clarified that the tariffs could sow "even more chaos in the rest of the world."

On July 14, the American leader announced that the United States would impose 100% secondary duties on Russia if a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine was not reached within 50 days. He also said that he supports the congressional initiative on sanctions against Russia, but "does not yet know whether it will be necessary."
