The new package of sanctions against Russia will significantly change the energy resources market in Europe. This was stated on July 18 by Stanislav Naumov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, in an interview with Izvestia.

"EU countries are narrowing the range of suppliers as part of ensuring their energy security. Apparently, they are ready to shift the risks of monopolizing the market for energy supplies to Europe to end users," the deputy said.

Naumov believes that Russia needs to radically change the geography of its energy exports.

"Russia probably needs to leave Europe without any hopes of receiving Russian oil and gas by the 19th package of sanctions," he said.

The MP also expressed confidence that Russia would not respond to new sanctions measures from the EU.

As possible ways to mitigate the negative impact of sanctions on European residents, Naumov suggested expanding opportunities for EU citizens to move permanently to Russia.

On the same day, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, announced that the permanent representatives of the EU countries had agreed on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. According to Reuters, the restrictions will affect the operation of the Nord Stream gas pipelines and lowering the ceiling on oil prices.
