The Chelyabinsk authorities have tightened the requirements for operators and drivers of scooters. They will be banned from being thrown outside special sites, and traffic violators will be fined. This was announced on Friday, July 18, by the head of the city Alexey Loshkin during a working meeting with representatives of the regional Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"Scooters have turned from a means of transportation into a dangerous attraction — mass entertainment with a risk to the lives and health of others, this must be stopped," said the mayor, quoted by the news agency " <url>".

According to Loshkin, for now the authorities intend to resolve the situation with FURTHER strengthening of legal regulation, the introduction of security measures and personal responsibility. If these innovations do not work, then "tougher" options will be considered, the mayor added.

The head of the regional capital also discussed with the staff of the Investigative Committee the current stage of the roadmap implementation. Earlier, the document was signed with scooter rental companies.

The issue of bringing order to the streets was also raised. Law enforcement officers are actively involved in this process, most of the proposals appeared after analyzing the causes of incidents with scooters.

Since September 1, updated landscaping rules will come into force in Chelyabinsk. The document authorizes the authorities to evacuate electric scooters left outside designated areas. The Committee of Road Management has identified 400 zones for the placement of such equipment. By the beginning of August, 1,100 more points will be marked on the city map.

Earlier in July, the State Duma announced that a complete ban on the use of electric scooters would not be introduced at the federal level. The decision on this can be made by the regions.
