The United States has passed a law to reduce foreign aid financing by $9.4 billion.
The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill to reduce government funding for foreign aid programs, as well as public broadcasters NPR and PBS, totaling $9 billion. This was announced on July 18 by the American leader Donald Trump.
It is specified that the bill was approved by the US Senate the day before.
"The House of Representatives has approved a $9 billion package of cuts, including the monstrous NPR and PBS programs, which cost billions of dollars a year," Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
According to him, representatives of the US Republican Party have been trying to cut funding for such programs for 40 years, but "they have failed." The American leader stressed that now the situation has changed, and it is "grandiose."
On June 13, Reuters reported that the House of Representatives of the US Congress supported the Trump administration's proposal to reduce government funding for foreign aid programs by $9.4 billion, as well as the media. The document was supported by 214 votes in favor (212 votes against).
