Nebenzia announced the Russian Federation's demand to provide guarantees for the safety of Russians in the SAR

Russia demands to provide security guarantees for Russian citizens and facilities against the background of the escalation of the conflict in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR). This was announced on July 17 by Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Vasily Nebenzia.

"In this regard, we remind you of the imperative to ensure the safety of Russian citizens and facilities in Syria. We demand that the Syrian authorities take appropriate measures," he said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

He also added that Russia supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. According to him, the path to sustainable normalization is through an "inclusive Syrian dialogue by its very nature."
