In summer, it is important to correctly adjust the drinking regime in order to feel good and avoid edema. Elizaveta Zolotova, an endocrinologist and nutritionist at the Doctor TV channel, told about this on Thursday, July 17. She gave tips on water consumption during the warmer months.

The specialist advised calculating the daily fluid intake in the summer according to a universal formula: 25-30 ml of fluid per kilogram of ideal human body weight. Thus, a person weighing about 70 kg should drink two liters a day.

"We get up to 50% of this volume from food — vegetables, fruits, soups, so it is enough to consume 1.2–1.5 liters per day in liquid form (water, compotes, weak tea) under comfortable conditions," the endocrinologist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Zolotova added that thirst should not be quenched with soda, coffee or tea.

"Coffee, strong tea and sugary carbonated drinks do not quench thirst, but, on the contrary, increase the excretion of fluid from the body, which can lead to dehydration. Because of this, in severe cases, blood can clot, which increases the risk of thrombosis, cardiac arrhythmias and other cardiovascular complications," she warned.

In turn, Zarema Ten, a general practitioner at the Vidnovskaya Clinical Hospital, told the Moscow City News agency that due to blood clots in hot weather, problems with thermoregulation of the brain may occur, and therefore the organ may overheat. She urged not to wait for thirst, but to drink water during the day in small sips, regularly.

Therapist Andrey Zvonov recommended in an interview with Life.Always have at least 500 ml of mineral water with you.

Earlier in the day, endocrinologist and nutritionist Oksana Mikhaleva said that drinking sugary soda in hot weather can lead to increased dehydration of the body. 360.ru . She noted the high concentration of sugar in soda and explained that the orthophosphoric acid in the composition masks the excessive sweet taste, RT reports.

On July 15, Zainudin Zainudinov, chief physician of the clinic of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Nutrition and Biotechnology, nutritionist, said that failure to follow proper nutrition in the summer can lead to an exacerbation of cardiovascular diseases, as well as cause fluctuations in blood pressure.
