On July 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the 2006 volleyball World champion Elena Godina with the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree. The relevant decree was published on the official portal for the publication of legal information.
It is noted that Godina received the award for her services to the development of physical culture and sports and many years of diligent work.
Godina is a two—time bronze medalist at the World Championships (1998, 2002), as well as a three-time European champion (1997, 1999, 2001). She became the champion of Russia 10 times and won the Champions League three times. Now the athlete is an adviser to the general director of the non-profit partnership of the Dynamo sports club (Moscow), Sport-Express clarifies.
In addition, Alexander Lobarsky, Director of the Zarya Sports Training Center in Novosibirsk, was also awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
On July 11, Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, presented Alice Freundlich, People's Artist of the USSR, with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, first class.
