The supplies of artillery ammunition organized by the Czech Republic to Ukraine have increased, this year they reached 850 thousand shells. This was reported on July 17 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the Czech Ministry of Defense.

"This year, shipments totaled 850,000 shells, including 320,000 NATO 155 mm artillery shells," the publication says.

It is specified that in order to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine, a special program was implemented in the Czech Republic, which is aimed at finding available weapons stocks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) around the world.

According to the agency, within the framework of this program, countries were invited to familiarize themselves with the ammunition available in the Czech Republic, and then to finance them. Last year, under similar conditions, Ukraine was able to receive 1.5 million artillery shells, including 500,000 155 mm ammunition.

On July 14, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States and the European Union (EU) had reached an agreement on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. According to him, the weapons will be produced by the United States, but they will be paid for by European countries.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on July 15 that the Czech Republic would not join the purchase of US weapons by NATO countries to transfer them to Kiev. It is specified that Germany will be the main driver of this project.
