- The weather forecaster named the areas of Moscow with the highest thunderstorm activity.
Unstable weather persists in Moscow and the Moscow region on July 17 with short-term heavy rains and thunderstorms, precipitation is uneven: there may be no precipitation in the north of the city, while thunderstorm activity is noted in the southern part of the capital region. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on July 17.
"There is heavy rain somewhere now. That is, the weather is completely different, and it differs in the territory. There is no precipitation in the north of Moscow, and thunderstorm activity is mainly in the southern half of the metropolitan region. <...> The rains will continue until about 18-19 hours, there is a possibility of thunderstorm activity today, but thunderstorms have already passed somewhere, and they will still thunder somewhere," the forecaster noted..
According to her, after the recent precipitation, the temperature in the southern regions of the capital dropped by 4-5 degrees: from +24 degrees to about +19 ...+20 degrees. Despite the fact that the intensity of precipitation on this day is less than the day before, the unstable weather in the region will remain until nightfall.
"Yesterday, the rains mostly affected the northern half of the Moscow region. Today, they will be more annoying to residents of the southern halves," Pozdnyakova concluded.
Forecaster Roman Vilfand reported on July 16 that despite the duration of heavy rains and thunderstorms, it is too early to talk about a change in Moscow's climate zone, but an increase in their number in the capital region can already be assumed.
