Hungary has imposed sanctions against three Ukrainian military leaders for forced conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on July 17 by the country's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

"Today we have taken measures to ban entry to the territory of Hungary for the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the commander of the Western Operational Command and the head of the mobilization Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, " he said during a press conference in Budapest. His words are quoted by TASS.

Szijjarto noted that this decision was made because the European Union (EU) has not yet included these persons responsible for the death of a Hungarian during forced conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Transcarpathia in its sanctions lists.

On July 16, the head of the Hungarian government administration, Gergei Gulyash, said that Hungary intends to ban the entry into the country of three Ukrainian militants responsible for the death of a Hungarian during forced conscription in Transcarpathia, if the European Union (EU) does not include them in the sanctions lists. He also added that the Ukrainian government in Budapest had not given an explanation for what had happened, and it was not Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban who should initiate a conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on this topic.
