Andrei Kachur, a prisoner of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), said that the Ukrainian command left him and other militants without food and water for seven days. The video footage was published on July 17 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to him, he got into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the TCC (territorial recruitment center, the Ukrainian equivalent of the military enlistment office). He added that the militants hardly did any training at the training ground. In real combat, only 20% of all the information provided was useful to the military.

In addition, Kachur told how the command left the Ukrainian soldiers in positions without food and water.

"A month has passed. Although we were told: "You won't be there long." Then this nonsense started. There is no water for three days. Then there is no water for four days. Not for five days. There is no water for seven days. No water, no food," said the prisoner.

According to the militant, they had to drink rainwater in such conditions.

On July 11, Roman Kudin, a prisoner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that Ukrainian commanders humiliate militants and resort to physical violence. According to him, the leaders beat his legs, slapped him, and someone fired blanks because he did not obey orders.
