The keeper of Annabel's "cursed" doll, Dan Rivera, has died in the United States.

Dan Rivera, a paranormal researcher and keeper of the so-called cursed doll Annabel, has died in the United States at the age of 54. This was reported on July 17 by The Guardian newspaper with reference to the New England Society for Psychical Research (NESPR).

"Rivera's death occurred on Sunday (July 13. — Ed.) during his visit to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where he led the "Devils on the Run" tour. As part of the tour, Rivera and other members of the NESPR took a Raggedy Ann doll, presumably possessed by a spirit, across several states," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, Rivera was found in a hotel room in Gettysburg. The cause of his death is not yet known.

However, the publication notes that on the evening of July 13, firefighters and paramedics responded to a call at the hotel, which said "cardiopulmonary resuscitation for a man of the same age as Rivera."

The New England Society for Psychical Research expressed sorrow over the death of the researcher, noting that he was distinguished by his honesty, creativity and generosity.

They also emphasized that Rivera's passion for the paranormal was "a sincere desire to educate, help, and connect with others—whether through social media, conferences, or investigations with local families seeking understanding and peace."

Annabelle is a rag doll who became famous due to the legend of a possessed spirit who took up residence in her. In the 1970s, it was first bought in one of the hobby shops. Later, unexplained paranormal events began to be associated with her.

Annabel allegedly moved independently and left notes and "psychic signs" on her "victims." Later, the doll was given to paranormal researchers Edward and Lorraine Warren, who kept it in their occult museum in Monroe, Connecticut. Rivera was the doll's keeper and helped create a series of films related to Annabel.
