On Thursday, July 17, a round table of the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISI) on the topic "Sports sovereignty of Russia" is being held in the press center of the Izvestia International Research Center.: sport as a soft power."

The Sochi Olympics confirmed the status of the Russian Federation as a leading sports power thanks to high-quality training and a positive atmosphere. The 2018 FIFA World Cup and the BRICS Games in Kazan have enhanced the country's international reputation, strengthened the trust of partners, and demonstrated the attractiveness of Russian cities for tourists and investments.

What opportunities does sport offer for shaping a positive image of Russia and strengthening its international authority in the future are being discussed:

— Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, President of the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation;

— Sergey Karjakin, Grandmaster, member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, President of the Moscow Region Chess Federation;

— Artur Dalaloyan, Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports of the Russian Federation, winner of the BRICS Sports Games;

— Maria Kiselyova, three-time Olympic champion, Honored Master of Sports of the Russian Federation, deputy of the Moscow City Duma;

— Mikhail Mamonov, Director of the VTsIOM Political Research Department;

— Alexey Martynov, political scientist, Director of the Institute of Modern States, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation;

— Igor Stolyarov, Head of the Games of the Future project.
