A new fraud scheme on behalf of the FSB has been revealed in the Novosibirsk Region
A new telephone fraud scheme has been discovered in Novosibirsk. This was announced on July 17 by the Department of the Federal Security Service (UFSB) of Russia for the region.
The scammers acted on behalf of employees of one of the departments of this department and established contact with representatives of 20 companies.
"Unidentified persons contacted the management of organizations, demanding the phone numbers of employees who were allegedly being checked for possible assistance to foreign intelligence services, then, under threat of leakage of their personal data, they offered to transfer funds to "secure accounts," TASS quoted the agency as saying.
The agency found that more than 220 forged documents, allegedly issued by security agencies, were distributed in 43 other regions of the country. An investigation is underway to identify all cases of illegal activity.
On July 15, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that telephone fraudsters had developed a new scheme to steal accounts from the Gosuslugi portal from applicants. Attackers call applicants, promise high chances of enrollment and ask them to follow a malicious link, after which they steal information.
