The number of sunny days is increasing in St. Petersburg. This is due to changes in the nature of clouds. Climatologist Alexander Chernokulsky, Deputy director of the Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Izvestia about this in an interview.

"Yes, in general, we see a redistribution of the type of clouds. There are fewer layered clouds and more cumulus clouds. The nature of precipitation is also changing. There are fewer heavy, tedious, monotonous rains, but more heavy short showers," the expert said.

This process is related to global warming, the climatologist explained.
