"Normalization of bilateral relations can happen only after the establishment of peace between Russia and Ukraine. We will not discuss the expansion of political and economic cooperation until a sustainable peace is achieved following the negotiations," the diplomatic mission said.

The dialogue between Russia and the United States was restored after the return of American leader Donald Trump to the White House. However, he has now toughened his stance against Moscow, threatening duties on goods from the Russian Federation and announcing arms supplies to Ukraine.
