In the Voronezh region, a man was sentenced to 16 years for drug distribution

A court in the Voronezh Region has convicted a member of a criminal community who tried to sell drugs on an especially large scale, in the form of imprisonment for 16 years. This was announced on July 16 by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

It is known that the man joined a criminal group distributing illegal substances in November 2022. This organization covered more than 50 cities. There were 75 couriers working in its structure, coordinated by five supervisors.

According to investigators, in June 2023, the accused arrived in the Ramonsky district of the Voronezh Region, where he was supposed to extract drugs weighing 3.9 kg from a cache. The man managed to escape from the police, but in 2024 he was detained in the Moscow region.

"He was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation in a criminal community"), Part 3 of Article 30, Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted illegal sale of narcotic drugs committed on an especially large scale")," the department said.

On July 16, employees of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) detained the largest shipment of Latin American drugs worth more than 12 billion rubles this year. It is clarified that the Russian special services received information from foreign colleagues about the intention of a South American criminal group to organize the supply of cocaine to the Russian Federation.
