Israel wants to maintain the status quo in southern Syria. This was announced on July 16 by the country's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.

According to him, Israel's interests in Syria after the attacks are known, limited and clear.

"First, to maintain the status quo in southern Syria - not far from our border — and to prevent threats to Israel in this region," The Times of Israel newspaper quoted him as saying.

He called the prevention of harm to Druze a second interest.

Earlier in the day, Al Jazeera TV channel reported new Israeli strikes on Damascus. It was clarified that the headquarters of the Syrian Armed Forces was attacked. At least three or four strokes were recorded. According to the latest data, three people were killed and 34 others were injured.
