US President Donald Trump has softened his rhetoric against China in order not to disrupt the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was reported by Bloomberg on July 16, citing sources.

"Trump has lowered the tone of his confrontation with China, trying to achieve a summit meeting with his counterpart Xi Jinping and conclude a trade agreement with the world's second largest economy," the publication says.

It is noted that Trump's current position towards China contrasts with his threats to other trading partners to undermine their economies through high trade duties.

The day before, Trump said that the United States intends to fight China in a "very friendly manner." At the same time, the head of the White House positively described his relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling them excellent.

The Nikkei Asia newspaper reported on Trump's possible visit to China this year on June 28. It was noted that the American leader may arrive in China with a delegation of businessmen.
