Torpedo CEO Skorodumov refused to testify in the case of judge bribery
Valery Skorodumov, CEO of the Torpedo football club, who is accused of attempting to bribe a judge, refused to testify to the investigation. His lawyer Yana Teplyakova told Izvestia about this on Wednesday, July 16.
"Valery has currently used Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and does not inform the investigation anything," she explained.
The human rights activist added that Skorodumov's property had not been seized. According to her, there are no grounds for arrest, as there are no victims in the case and no civil lawsuits have been filed. The lawyer stressed that the articles of the Criminal Code incriminated to Skorodumov also do not provide for such a measure.
On June 20, it was reported that Skorodumov and FC owner Leonid Sobolev were detained in a case of illegally influencing the outcome of matches involving the club, and they were charged with bribing a referee. According to preliminary data, Skorodumov, Sobolev and their accomplices tried to influence the outcome of at least three games.
On July 10, FC Torpedo was excluded from the upcoming RPL championship.
