A ceasefire agreement has been reached between the Syrian armed forces and armed formations in the Syrian province of Suwayda. This was reported on July 16 by the SANA news agency, citing sources in the republic's Interior Ministry.

"A ceasefire agreement has been reached in the province of Suwayda <...> it will be fully integrated into the Syrian state," the newspaper's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that additional checkpoints have been deployed in the city of Essaouida.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, called for a constructive dialogue between Tel Aviv and Damascus after Israeli strikes on the territory of the Arab Republic. He also condemned violence against civilians in Suwayda.
