A criminal case has been opened in the Trans-Baikal Territory on fraud in the landscaping of a square located in the city of Borzya. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

We are talking about Lenin Square, the contract for the improvement of which was awarded to Dorstroyproekt LLC in September 2023. The company has committed to carry out work worth 113.6 million rubles by the end of 2024.

"Despite the fact that the landscaping of the common area was not completed, the contractor's representatives submitted documents on the execution of the contract, and the customer's officials accepted the work and paid for it in full," the report says.

The damage amounted to 5.2 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated by the contractor against unidentified persons under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud on an especially large scale".

Regarding the officials on the part of the customer, who were represented by the logistics support service of the city of Borzya, the investigation is still ongoing on the grounds of crimes provided for in paragraph "e" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Abuse of official authority" and Part 2 of Article 292 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Making deliberately false information by an official in official documents".

According to the ChitaMedia news agency, the prosecutor's office now wants to complete the unfinished work on Lenin Square. The relevant statement of claim is under consideration in court.
