Discounts on new cars in Russia have reached 1 million rubles

On average, discounts on officially imported cars in Russia range from 350 to 950 thousand rubles, and on cars supplied by alternative imports — from 1.5 to 3 million rubles. Ilya Petrov, Director of retail sales at Avilon AG, told about this, listing a number of Jetour, Omoda, Changan, Exeed and Aito Seres models, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on July 16.

The press service of Avtodom Group dealer holding noted that there are currently several models on the market with very generous discounts: from 20% to 37% of the starting price. According to the company, the highest discount applies to the Exeed LX, Changan CS35 Plus, GAC GS3 and Omoda C5 crossovers. In general, car dealers are now actively selling stocks, they noted.

In turn, Nikolai Ivanov, director of the new car department at Rolf, explained that the large discounts are the result of dissatisfaction with the June sales results, and brands are trying to disperse demand with such offers. For individual brands, the discount can reach up to 1 million rubles, for example, for the Evolute model, he said.

Dealers may start refusing discounts when the situation with warehouses changes and there is a shortage of cars on the market. A reduction in the key interest rate may also become a serious driver for demand, Ivanov added.

Not everyone will survive: every tenth car dealer may leave the market by the end of the year.

Low sales and internal competition reduce profitability

Earlier in the day, it was reported that during the period from July 1 to July 15 of this year, prices for new cars changed for seven brands officially represented on the Russian market. At the same time, cars of only one brand have risen in price.
