Figure skater Nadezhda Ponteleenko was disqualified for using meldonium
Russian figure skater Nadezhda Ponteleyenko was disqualified for four years for using meldonium. This was announced on Wednesday, July 16, on the website of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
It is specified that the athlete was suspended until April 18, 2028.
As noted by Sport-Express, in November 2024, Ponteleyenko, having passed a positive doping test, took part in the Russian Championship in Kazan, where she was able to win third place. In the 2024/25 season, the figure skater decided not to perform.
According to the publication, the athlete is the champion of the Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial among juniors and the winner of the Russian Senior Championship.
Earlier, on May 26, Russian swimmer Valeria Salamatina was suspended for two years for violating anti-doping rules. It was reported that the period of ineligibility will expire on May 7, 2027.
