The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a bill that will allow citizens over the age of 60 to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on July 16 by the deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament Irina Gerashchenko.

"306 people's deputies supported the right of servicemen who turned 60 years old to continue defending Ukraine, if they wish, by passing a bill on military service under contract for persons who have reached the age limit for military service," Gerashchenko wrote on her Telegram channel.

She noted that the law will allow those who have reached the age limit of 60 to sign a contract for military service, but who are ready to continue serving for health reasons. According to her, the text of the document does not clearly specify who exactly should coordinate candidates for contract service, which may create opportunities "for abuse or selective decisions."

On July 15, the Verkhovna Rada extended the mobilization and martial law in Ukraine. It is specified that 320 deputies voted "For", only Alexey Goncharenko spoke out against (he is included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring).
