Emergency rescue operations have been completed in the Novosibirsk region after a gas explosion in a residential building. This was announced on July 16 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.

"Emergency rescue operations in the Novosibirsk region have been completed," the ministry said in a statement.

They added that experts are now continuing to dismantle the roof, which poses a risk of collapse. 110 people, hydraulic rescue tools and mechanized machinery are involved in this work.

A gas explosion in an apartment building near Novosibirsk occurred on the morning of July 16. Shortly after, the Ministry of Health of the region reported that one person was killed and one injured due to the incident. As a result of the incident, a criminal case was opened under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements").
