Orban called the people of Europe the biggest losers from the EU budget plan
The biggest losers from the European Union's (EU) budget plan are European residents. This was announced on July 16 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"The biggest losers in this proposal are the people of Europe, including farmers, who may find themselves in a very difficult situation," the politician said.
According to him, this situation may lead to a decrease in support for both Hungarian and European farmers. In addition, the politician stressed that Ukraine would receive the greatest benefit from this budget proposal from the European Commission (EC).
"This plan risks leaving rural Europe aside and endangering families across the continent. Brussels should not abandon European farmers for the sake of financing Ukraine," Orban added on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The Financial Times newspaper reported on July 8 that the European Union is actively exploring options to cover the Ukrainian budget deficit, which could reach $19 billion in 2026. A number of measures are being discussed as possible solutions: allocation of military assistance to Ukraine in the form of extra-budgetary grants, accelerated issuance of loans from the already approved G7 support program of $ 50 billion.
