France has announced no intention to purchase weapons for Ukraine.

Paris is not going to participate in the initiative related to the purchase of US weapons for Kiev against the background of its desire to develop its own weapons production. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on July 15.

According to the publication, American President Donald Trump, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, listed the states that are ready to participate in the initiative to purchase American weapons for Kiev. At that time, the US leader did not mention France. The newspaper notes that the President of the republic, Emmanuel Macron, has been calling on European citizens for a long time to develop their own defense industry through the purchase of weapons from local manufacturers.

"For this reason, Paris will not join the initiative to purchase American weapons <...>. The French government is also having difficulty increasing its own defense spending, trying to reduce the budget and curb the huge deficit," the publication says.

There is no wording about the inevitability of Kiev's joining the alliance in the communique of its summit, but this is not enough for Russia.

Politico reported on July 11 that Trump is thinking about sending Ukraine a new military aid package worth hundreds of millions of dollars. According to the publication, if the decision is made, it will be the first military aid to Kiev from the Trump administration.
