In the Irkutsk region, more than 2.4 thousand people were left without electricity due to a thunderstorm.

In the Irkutsk region, after a downpour with a thunderstorm, about 2.4 thousand people were left without electricity. This was announced on July 16 in the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.

"As of 06:00 (local time, corresponds to 01:00 Moscow time. On July 16, two settlements in two municipalities (Irkutsk city, Usolsky district), 997 houses with 2.4 thousand people, 865 of them children, remain without electricity," the ministry said in a statement.

The governor of the region, Igor Kobzev, also said that as a result of the passage of the thunderstorm front, power supply was cut off in 12 settlements. So, 4.1 thousand houses were left without electricity, in which 21.3 thousand people live. In addition, 30 trees were felled by the wind in Irkutsk, eight in Shelekhov.

"The emergency recovery teams of OGUE Oblkommunenergo and IESK, the Road Service of the Irkutsk region, are involved in the restoration work. The planned time for restoring power supply is 15:00 (10:00 Moscow time. — Ed.) on July 16," the message on his Telegram channel says.

Alexander Dronov, Acting Governor of the Novgorod Region, announced on July 13 that 195 settlements were left without electricity due to the storm in the region. It was noted that emergency recovery work is continuing.
