- Former 145th racket of the world Tara Moore was disqualified for four years for doping
The appeals of the independent International Agency for Fair Play in Tennis (ITIA) against the former 145-th racket of the world Tara Moore were satisfied — the athlete was disqualified for four years due to violations of anti-doping rules. This was announced on July 15 by the press service of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
According to the statement, Moore was charged on January 13, 2023 due to the discovery of boldenone and nandrolone drugs in samples taken from her during a tournament in Bogota in April 2022 (they are steroidal, can mimic the activity of testosterone and affect the growth of muscle mass).
It is noted that Moore explained the presence of nandrolone in her body by the fact that she consumed meat, and speaking about the detected presence of boldenone, she claimed that a positive result should not have been registered. It is clarified that by the end of 2023, she was acquitted, but in early 2024, ITIA again appealed to the CAS with a demand to recognize the violation of anti-doping rules.
"After reviewing the scientific and legal evidence, the majority of the CAS Board members considered that the player failed to prove that the concentration of nandrolone in her sample corresponded to the consumption of <...> meat. The board concluded that Moore did not provide sufficient evidence of an unintentional violation," the document says.
The press service of the German Ski Sports Association (DSV) announced on June 25 that Olympic champion ski racer Victoria Karl failed a doping test due to the cough syrup she consumed. Traces of clenbuterol, a substance that is prohibited by the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), were found in her body.
