The calculation of the TOR-M1 air defense system destroyed the drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Red Army area.

Military personnel of the Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) of the Center group of forces provided air cover for the positions of Russian units from attack unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) destroyed four enemy targets in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO) in one combat mission. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on July 16.

To perform combat missions to cover units from various types of Ukrainian UAVs, the military personnel of the Tor-M1 air defense system are deployed to the combat duty area, where they conduct round-the-clock monitoring of airspace. When air targets are detected, the crew takes the target for escort and launches anti-aircraft guided missiles with the control of destruction of objects using a special visual control system of the combat vehicle.

"There are a lot of targets now, but mostly these are drones: reconnaissance ones like Fury, Valkyrie, and shock ones, that is, low—flying ones," said Oleg Naumov, the head of the calculation.

In addition, Maxim Fedorov, deputy head of the calculation, said that the Tor-M1 air defense system is perfect for destroying drones at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the combat vehicle can simultaneously detect 48 targets.

During the special military operation, the calculations of the Tor air defense system unit are on constant combat duty at the front line, providing air cover for ground forces, saving the lives of Russian Armed Forces personnel and the combat readiness of motorized rifle, tank and artillery units of the group of forces.

On July 15, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian military personnel destroyed two launchers of the German IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system and the P-18 radar station in the special operation zone during the day.
