The WSJ pointed to Trump's specific style of statements.
The specific style of statements by American President Donald Trump makes it difficult for Kiev to understand what the head of the White House really means. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on July 15, citing a senior Ukrainian official.
According to him, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during one of the last telephone conversations with Trump, asked for American precision weapons to be allocated to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), whose strikes would be "more destructive."
The source noted that Zelensky was surprised by this conversation, as the head of the White House spoke to him in a "supportive tone," although he had previously publicly criticized him.
After that, according to the publication, Trump, who promised Kiev on Monday, July 14, the supply of new weapons, on Tuesday, July 15, said that the United States does not intend to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with long-range missiles, and also warned Ukraine against attacks on Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The Politico newspaper on the same day pointed to the confusion felt by representatives of NATO countries due to Trump's new plan, according to which American weapons will be supplied from the territory of the alliance countries.
