The opposition political parties of the Armenian Parliament have appealed to the Constitutional Court (CC) demanding that the law on the nationalization of the "Electric Grids of Armenia" by Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan be declared unconstitutional. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia on July 15.

"If these changes are implemented, the energy system will collapse," said Artsvik Minasyan, a representative of the Armenia Party.

According to him, the statement disputes several articles and formulations.

On June 18, it became known about Karapetyan's detention. He was charged with calling for the seizure of power in Armenia and arrested for two months. Armenian politician Arman Abovyan called the businessman's detention an attempt to weaken the influence of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC).

Later, on July 8, security forces broke into the head office of Electric Networks of Armenia. Law enforcement officers also broke into the house of Narek Karapetyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elset. Searches took place at the site, during which employees were on the street.
