Waltz promised to make the UN "great again" as US permanent Representative
Mike Waltz, a candidate for the post of permanent representative of the United States to the United Nations (UN), on Tuesday, July 15, announced his intention to make it "great again."
"I am confident that we will be able to make the United Nations great again," the candidate added during a hearing before the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
In his opinion, over the 80 years of its existence, the UN has moved away from its main peacekeeping mission.
"We should have one place in the world where everyone can talk. Where China, Russia, Europe, and developing countries could unite and resolve conflicts," Waltz added.
Earlier, on May 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the stability of the world order largely depends on the West's compliance with the principles of the UN Charter. He stressed that Western countries should refrain from pushing through their extralegal policies.
