Melania, the wife of the American leader Donald Trump, influenced the decision to supply weapons to Ukraine. This was reported on Tuesday, July 15 in The Times newspaper.

"Trump listens to certain people on certain issues <...> He listens especially to people who are very close to him. And especially if their last name is Trump," said Mary Jordan, the author of a book about Melania.

In addition, the writer noted that the first lady of the United States has the most experience with Trump and this allows her to convey her point of view to her husband more successfully than other people from his entourage.

According to Jordan, Melania's father, 81-year-old Viktor Knavs, continues to travel to Slovenia, where Melania grew up, which means that she "keeps her finger on the pulse of European politics."

"Her home country fully supports Ukraine, and people there are shocked that the United States will suddenly no longer arm Ukraine," she said.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Trump's statements about a new plan to supply American weapons to Ukraine were a signal to Kiev to continue the conflict. He added that these statements require analysis, after which Russian President Vladimir Putin will comment on them if he deems it necessary.
